Green Key Criteria

The international standard for excellence in sustainable tourism — covering environmental management across hospitality and leisure establishments.

Green Key criteria define the requirements that establishments must meet to achieve and maintain certification. The criteria are reviewed and updated periodically to reflect the latest developments in sustainable tourism, environmental management, and global best practices.

Currently, two sets of Green Key Criteria are in effect during the transition period:

  • Criteria 2022–2026 — applicable until 30 September 2026
  • Criteria 2026–2031 — effective from 1 October 2026

Both criteria sets cover six establishment categories: Hotels & Hostels, Campsites & Holiday Parks, Small Accommodations, Conference Centres, Restaurants, and Attractions.
